“Several TUKS, especially those involved in export production, have indicated serious interest in forming a partnership,” said Sardi during a discussion with Indonesia Shipping Gazette in Makassar on Monday (March 10, 2025).

This growing interest highlights the significant potential for cooperation that can drive mutual benefits, particularly by enhancing operational efficiency and expanding product distribution networks.

Sardi emphasized that SPMT is prepared to offer a better operating model supported by a team of highly skilled and experienced professionals.

“SPMT has a highly competent team ready to support various logistics needs—from terminal management to cargo loading and unloading. Additionally, we offer a modern and integrated system, PTOS (Pelindo Terminal Operating System), already implemented in several SPMT terminals across Indonesia,” Sardi explained.

The PTOS system is designed to improve efficiency and a well planning in terminal operations, as well as enable real-time monitoring and reporting of logistics activities. By implementing PTOS, SPMT aims to streamline processes, minimize errors, and accelerate operations.

“By offering a more better operating model, backed by a skilled workforce, several TUKS have expressed serious intent to cooperate,” Sardi added.

Expanding into the Non-Captive Market

This partnership with TUKS is also a strategic move in SPMT Makassar Branch’s broader business expansion plan into the non-captive market—markets beyond Pelindo’s regular clientele. Sardi noted that these collaborations are vital for extending SPMT’s reach and introducing its terminal services to businesses outside the traditional customer base.

In addition, this is also in line with the group (Pelindo)’s grand strategy to expand its business, including to non-captive market (non-Pelindo ports).

“One of the key objectives of this collaboration is to broaden our market coverage and provide more efficient logistics solutions to sectors that have yet to be fully developed,” Sardi said.

Entering the non-captive market is expected to open up more business opportunities, contributing to the growth of both the Pelindo group and the local economy, particularly in Sulawesi.

SPMT Makassar Branch remains firmly committed to improving operational efficiency and expanding its network through partnerships with TUKS in the Sulawesi region. With the implementation of the PTOS system and a focus on offering streamlined operations, SPMT aims to provide superior logistics solutions to TUKS, strengthening its foothold in the non-captive market.
