Tanjung Priok Back to Normal, Thanks to Strong Stakeholders’ Collaboration

Tanjung Priok Port has resumed normal operations following the heavy traffic congestion that occurred on April 17–18. Container loading and unloading activities at the terminals are now running smoothly, and the flow of trucks for both receiving and delivery has returned to normal on both sides.

Adi Sugiri, Executive General Manager of Regional 2 Tanjung Priok, emphasized that continuous coordination with the Tanjung Priok Port Authority (KSOP) and the police has been key to managing traffic in and out of the port in line with its service capacity.

“We continue to coordinate with all relevant parties, including terminal operators. Alhamdulillah, traffic and operational activities at Tanjung Priok Port—especially at NPCT1—have returned to normal,” Adi said.

Speaking on behalf of Pelindo management, Adi extended his gratitude to all parties involved, including KSOP, the police, local government authorities, particularly the Transportation Agency and North Jakarta’s Government, for their support in restoring order.

Meanwhile, Mohamad Erwin, Secretary of Indonesia National Shipowners’ Association – INSA Jaya-, highlighted the need for a long-term solution to prevent similar disruptions in the future, especially following national holidays.

“This isn’t the time to point fingers or assign blame. It’s time to sit down together—government officials, Pelindo, terminal operators, associations, and all stakeholders—and find real solutions. What we’re dealing with goes beyond traffic; it threatens the integrity of our national logistics supply chain,” Erwin stated.

Erwin proposed the formation of a Joint Logistics Stakeholder Forum—comprising representatives from the central and provincial governments, Pelindo, terminal operators, trucking associations, freight forwarders, and shipping companies.

He suggested this forum be responsible for developing a standardized set of operating procedures (SOPs) for managing logistics before and after major holidays.
