Terminal Teluk Lamong Records 4% Throughput Growth in Q1 2025

Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) reported a solid performance in the first quarter (Q1 2025), recording a 4% year-on-year increase in container throughput. The terminal handled 220,754 TEUs during the January–March period, up from 212,206 TEUs in the same period last year, thanks to high international and domestic container flows during the Ramadan period in March 2025.

This positive performance aligns with projections for East Java’s economic growth in 2025, estimated to range between 4.7% and 5.5%, according to economic experts, business leaders, and the East Java Representative Office of Bank Indonesia.

To support this growth, TTL has continued enhancing its service quality. Key initiatives include optimizing the layout and management of container stacking yards and ensuring the maximum availability of ship moorings. The implementation of a consistent, planning- and control-based operational model has also led to greater efficiency.

This operational success is evident in TTL’s effective time metrics. In March 2025, effective loading and unloading time as a percentage of total berthing time surpassed targets—achieving 88% for international container vessels (target: 81%) and 78% for domestic vessels (target: 73%).

Additionally, the volume of empty domestic containers saw a notable increase, rising 6% to 49,507 TEUs in Q1 2025 from 46,611 TEUs in the same period last year. This growth reflects strong demand from service users for transporting industrial and agricultural products from East Java to other regions across Indonesia.

To meet this demand, TTL has invested in infrastructure improvements. These include the development of a dedicated stacking yard for empty containers, with an annual capacity of 391,230 TEUs, and the addition of an Empty Handler-type container lift to streamline operations.

David Pandapotan Sirait, President Director of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to operational and commercial excellence.

“We remain committed to delivering the best possible service to all of our users, in support of the government’s efforts to boost national economic growth—especially in East Java,” said David.
