Indonesian shipping company PT Pelayaran Tresnamuda Sejati, well known as TMS Lines, marked its 36th anniversary by reaffirming its commitment to supporting the growth of the country’s shipping, maritime and logistics sectors.
Founded in 1986 by David V. Lengkong and Emmy Wijaya, TMS Lines has grown from a small domestic operator into a national shipping company with offices in major Indonesian ports, including Jakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, Medan, Bandar Lampung, Pontianak, Banjarmasin, Samarinda and Makassar.
The company provides container transportation services across multiple domestic routes and also operates a foreign shipping agency business serving several international trade lanes.
“For foreign ship agency services, TMS Lines has more than 30 years of experience, including participation in shipping exhibitions and representation of key principals such as Wan Hai Lines, Interasia Lines and New Pacific Papua New Guinea Trades,” Vice President Director Sunarno said on Wednesday.
Sunarno said the company was initially established under the name PT Tresna Mulya Sejati and participated in the Pelayaran Pejaka scheme before officially becoming PT Pelayaran Tresnamuda Sejati in December 1989.

Operating amid increasingly competitive domestic and international shipping markets, TMS Lines has maintained compliance with national regulations as well as standards set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), he added.
Over more than three decades, the company has contributed to the development of Indonesia’s shipping industry while supporting broader national economic growth.
Business partners and associates extended congratulations to TMS Lines on its 36th anniversary, expressing hopes for the company’s continued role in strengthening the country’s maritime and shipping sector.
