Container terminal operator TPK Koja, a subsidiary of state-owned port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo), marked the company’s fourth anniversary by taking part in the national “Pelindo Mengajar” program, an educational initiative designed to introduce Indonesian students to the role of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in national development.
The outreach event, held simultaneously across Pelindo’s operational areas, aims to inspire youth and strengthen the quality of education while promoting the development of future-ready human capital.
At high school SMA Negeri 110 in North Jakarta, located within the company’s core operational zone, TPK Koja General Manager Banu Astrini delivered a guest teaching titled “Getting to Know State-Owned Enterprises: Proud to Work at a State-Owned Company.”
The session focused on the strategic function of SOEs in economic development, with a spotlight on Pelindo’s central role in Indonesia’s maritime logistics and port infrastructure.

“Working at a state-owned enterprise, including Pelindo, is not just about fulfilling corporate goals, but also about serving the nation,” Banu told students. “Each innovation and service contributes directly to the wider public.”
Banu explained the importance of ports as logistics gateways and enablers of inter-island connectivity in Indonesia – the world’s largest archipelago – with over 17,000 islands. She also described Pelindo’s transformation into a “Value Creator and Agent of Development,” aimed at boosting national logistics efficiency and global competitiveness.
Inspiring the Next Generation
The event included interactive sessions, icebreakers, and knowledge assessments to engage students and reinforce learning. Many showed enthusiasm during discussions on internships at SOEs, future career opportunities in maritime logistics, and the growing need for digital skills in an evolving job market.
“We want students to see that every profession, including those in the port sector, plays a vital role in Indonesia’s progress,” said Banu.
The event also highlighted the importance of early exposure to industry insights in shaping career aspirations. Students were introduced to Pelindo’s various professions, including those in logistics operations, engineering, and port management.
Digital Support for Education
In addition to the classroom session, TPK Koja donated Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment to SMA Negeri 110 as part of its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program. The contribution supports the school’s digital transformation goals and is intended to expand access to modern learning tools.

“We are honored by the visit and support from Pelindo and TPK Koja,” said Raison, Vice Principal of SMA Negeri 110. “This program broadens students’ understanding of the logistics and port sectors, and motivates them to pursue excellence.”
Supporting National Goals
Pelindo’s participation in the “Pelindo Mengajar” initiative supports Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education and SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth. The company said the program reflects its long-term commitment to nurturing a competitive, ethical, and forward-looking generation.

The event concluded with a group photo session involving TPK Koja management, students, and teachers, capturing the enthusiastic atmosphere and renewed motivation among students.
As part of Pelindo’s broader anniversary celebration, the initiative underscores the company’s evolving role beyond port operations – toward building human capital, supporting education, and strengthening national development.
