TPK Nilam and TPK Berlian Set to Adopt Terminal Booking System Soon

Two of Surabaya’s key container terminals, TPK Nilam and TPK Berlian, are preparing to implement a new digital logistics platform aimed at streamlining port operations and reducing congestion.

Managed by PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TLL), both terminals will soon adopt the Terminal Booking System (TBS), a technology-driven scheduling system designed to improve traffic flow and service efficiency at the busy Tanjung Perak Port.

The announcement follows a stakeholder outreach event held on Wednesday, July 30, where TLL introduced the system to terminal operators, service users, and port authorities.

The initiative marks the next phase in TLL’s phased rollout of TBS across terminals under its management. TPK Teluk Lamong, the company’s flagship terminal, began operating the system on June 11.

TBS enables trucking companies and service users to book arrival times at the terminal based on available capacity, helping to distribute truck traffic more evenly throughout the day. The system currently operates with six daily time slots, each lasting four hours.

“The implementation of TBS is a strategic move to establish a more structured and efficient service framework, while prioritizing safety and operational comfort,” said Agustinus Maun, Head of Tanjung Perak Harbormaster and Port Authority (KSOP), during the event.

“It reflects our commitment to avoiding vehicle bottlenecks within the port area, which in turn impacts productivity and service satisfaction,” he said further.

Agustinus noted that the system is part of a broader government drive to digitize Indonesia’s national logistics network. The initiative is intended to enhance competitiveness through integrated, technology-based solutions across the port ecosystem.

TLL President Director David Pandapotan Sirait said the TBS adoption forms a central pillar in the company’s digital transformation strategy. “Truck arrivals will become more predictable, vehicle waiting times will be reduced, and traffic congestion around the terminal area can be minimized,” David said.
