The service made its inaugural call at IPC TPK’s International Terminal 3 in Tanjung Priok Port on June 8, when the container vessel MV AS Carolina docked at the terminal at 9:30 p.m. local time.

The South China Indonesia Service connects the ports of Yantian, Xiamen, and Nansha in China with Jakarta and Surabaya, providing an additional shipping option for cargo movement between the two countries.

Yanuar Evyanto, Acting Director of Commercial and Business Development at IPC TPK, said the new service reflects the continued expansion of intra-Asian trade and logistics networks.

“IPC TPK continues to ensure the readiness of its infrastructure, terminal facilities, and operational services to provide efficient, safe, and reliable services for global shipping lines and logistics users,” Yanuar said.

MV AS Carolina, a Portuguese-flagged container vessel measuring 222 meters in length overall and 30 meters in beam, handled 1,209 containers during its maiden call at the terminal.

The new route is expected to strengthen Indonesia’s direct access to Southern China, one of the world’s largest manufacturing and export regions, while offering more competitive logistics solutions for businesses engaged in bilateral trade.

The service complements existing South China connections served through X-Press Feeders’ South China Java X-Press (SCJX), underscoring growing demand for shipping capacity and logistics connectivity between Indonesia and China.

IPC TPK said the addition of the service aligns with efforts to support increasingly integrated regional supply chains and accommodate rising cargo volumes driven by trade growth.

Supported by round-the-clock operations and ongoing digitalization initiatives, the terminal expects to further improve service efficiency and facilitate the movement of goods between the two countries.

“We hope this service will operate sustainably and contribute to smoother cargo flows, stronger trade relations, and enhanced competitiveness of Indonesia’s logistics sector,” Yanuar said.
