PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) and the Aceh provincial government have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop the Jakarta–Malahayati ferry crossing route, as part of efforts to strengthen logistics connectivity and inter-island transportation in western Indonesia.
The agreement was signed by Aceh Regional Secretary Muhammad Nasir and ASDP Deputy President Director Yossianis Marciano at ASDP headquarters in Jakarta on May 23, the company said.
The event was attended by officials from the Aceh administration and ASDP management, reflecting cooperation between the regional government and the state-owned ferry operator to improve maritime connectivity.
ASDP Deputy President Director Yossianis Marciano said the Jakarta–Malahayati route would support the company’s long-distance ferry (LDF) service development strategy aimed at creating a more efficient and integrated logistics network.

“This route is expected to become a catalyst for strengthening national logistics distribution while opening opportunities for trade, tourism and economic growth in Aceh and western Indonesia,” Yossi said in a statement.
Under the cooperation, ASDP and the Aceh government will collaborate on fleet operations and management, tariff implementation, port facility development, market promotion and improvements in safety and service standards.
Aceh Regional Secretary Muhammad Nasir said the partnership would help expand access to affordable sea transportation services and strengthen regional connectivity.
“This collaboration opens up opportunities for broader regional development and can continue to be evaluated and expanded to support sustainable economic growth,” Nasir said.
ASDP said the development of long-distance ferry services aligns with its business transformation strategy to improve the competitiveness of Indonesia’s logistics transportation system.

The company said ferry-based logistics distribution could help improve efficiency, reduce transportation costs and shorten delivery times.
Yossi added that the initiative also supports the Indonesian government’s target of lowering national logistics costs to 8% through a more efficient distribution system.
ASDP currently operates three ferry routes in Aceh — Ulee Lheue–Balohan, Ulee Lheue–Lamteung and Ulee Lheue–Serapung — served by KMP Aceh Hebat 2, KMP BRR and KMP Papuyu.
Between January and April 2026, ASDP’s Banda Aceh branch handled 128,034 passengers and 63,428 vehicles across the three routes, highlighting the role of ferry transportation in supporting mobility and logistics distribution in the province.
“ASDP remains committed to strengthening national connectivity through modern and integrated ferry transportation services that support public services and sustainable economic growth,” Yossi said.
