The holy month of Ramadan has once again become a moment for communities across Indonesia to strengthen solidarity and share kindness. For state-owned ferry operator PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), the season also serves as an opportunity to reaffirm the humanitarian values that underpin its corporate mission.
Through a social outreach program held on Saturday afternoon at the Klepean Center for Humanity office, the company distributed food aid and assistance to orphans, reflecting its commitment to supporting communities beyond its core transportation services.
The event brought together company representatives, community members and volunteers in a gathering that highlighted the spirit of compassion and togetherness during the fasting month. The aid was handed over directly by ASDP President Commissioner Achmad Baidowi.
Strengthening Community Solidarity
ASDP President Director Heru Widodo said the company views Ramadan initiatives as more than routine corporate social activities.
“The month of Ramadan reminds us to strengthen our concern for others. We hope this initiative spreads a spirit of togetherness, strengthens relationships and brings joy to communities during this blessed month,” Heru said.
Implemented in collaboration with the Klepean Center for Humanity Association, the program distributed basic food packages to around 200 participants. Among them were 25 orphans who also received additional assistance.
ASDP Corporate Secretary Windy Andale said the event was designed not only to provide material support but also to create meaningful engagement between the company and the surrounding community.
“The program was held in a warm and inclusive atmosphere, beginning with a Ramadan sermon and followed by a communal iftar. We hope the activity provides direct benefits to the children and families attending while fostering empathy and broader social awareness,” Windy said.
Supporting Sustainable Development Goals
Beyond its immediate social impact, the initiative also reflects ASDP’s broader commitment to sustainable development.
The company said the program contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Sustainable Development Goal 1: No Poverty and Sustainable Development Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, which emphasize efforts to reduce poverty and narrow social disparities.
Chairman of the Klepean Center for Humanity Association Abu Hasan welcomed the collaboration and expressed hope that similar initiatives could continue in the future.
“We hope this positive synergy will continue to grow so that more communities can benefit from activities that promote sharing and compassion,” he said.
As one of Indonesia’s key maritime transport operators, ASDP aims to strengthen its role not only as a connector between regions but also as a partner in community development through sustainable social initiatives.
