Kijing Terminal Can Serve 15 Ships Simultaneously, Pelindo Says

Terminal Kijing in West Kalimantan can now accommodate up to 15 vessels at the same time, including ships of up to 100,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT), as it seeks to strengthen its role as a logistics hub in western Indonesia.

The terminal, operated by PTP Nonpetikemas since Aug. 1, 2022, has a quay depth of minus 15 meters and is equipped with modern cargo handling facilities, the company said in a statement.

The new Pelindo President Director Achmad Muchtasyar visited the port on Feb. 26, marking his first working visit to the facility since taking office. The visit aimed to review operational performance and ongoing development projects, the company said.

The terminal serves as a key gateway for trade in the province, including Mempawah Regency and surrounding areas.

PTP Nonpetikemas President Director Indra Hidayat Sani said the visit underscored Pelindo’s commitment to developing the terminal as a strategic logistics hub.

“For us, this is momentum to ensure that every aspect of the terminal’s operations, services and development runs optimally and in line with Pelindo’s broader transformation,” Indra said.

The company said increased capacity has supported growth in production volumes and cargo throughput in recent years, though it did not provide detailed figures.
