PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok (PTP Nonpetikemas), a subsidiary of Pelindo Group, is expanding a terminalization strategy across several ports as it seeks to improve operational efficiency, increase cargo handling volumes and strengthen its position in Indonesia’s bulk cargo market.
The company has grouped terminals and piers according to commodity types, creating dedicated facilities for liquid bulk and dry bulk cargoes. The strategy, which began in December 2025, is aimed at improving loading and unloading productivity, optimizing port asset utilization and providing more focused services for customers.
Dwi Rahmad Toto S., Director of Commercial and Business Development and concurrently Director of Operations at PTP Nonpetikemas, said the terminalization program allows the company to tailor services to specific commodity characteristics and operational requirements.
“The implementation of terminalization is an important step in strengthening PTP Nonpetikemas’ position in the bulk cargo market. We are focused on enhancing competitiveness, delivering added value to customers and supporting sustainable business growth through optimized port services,” Toto said.
The dedicated-terminal concept forms part of broader efforts within the Pelindo Group to improve port efficiency and support the national logistics chain. By concentrating on a single commodity or cargo type, terminals can streamline operations, reduce vessel turnaround times, improve safety standards and maintain cargo quality.
PTP Nonpetikemas has designated three operational branches under the terminalization program. These include a liquid bulk terminal at Pier 4 in Banten, dry bulk terminals at Pier 2 in Banten and Pier 1 in Palembang, and a dry bulk facility at the Conveyor Pier in Jambi.
The company is also preparing additional terminalization projects at its Cirebon branch, a liquid bulk terminal in Pangkal Balam, and a dry bulk terminal at Ketapang Terminal in Pangkal Balam as part of efforts to expand commodity-focused services across its network.
Corporate Secretary Fiona Sari Utami said the initiative represents a key component of the company’s operational transformation and aligns with Pelindo’s efforts to strengthen service standards across its port network.
“Grouping terminals based on commodity characteristics enables more efficient and integrated services while supporting higher operational standards and stronger competitiveness,” Fiona said.
As one of Indonesia’s largest multipurpose terminal operators, PTP Nonpetikemas handles a wide range of non-containerized cargo, including dry bulk, liquid bulk and general cargo. The company said it will continue to develop specialized terminal services to support growing demand from industries and strengthen the efficiency of the national supply chain.
