The launch of X-Press Feeders’ SCJX service provides direct weekly connections between Surabaya and key South China ports, supporting trade growth, supply-chain efficiency and export-import activities.
PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) has strengthened international shipping connectivity after welcoming the maiden call of the MV WANTAI, operated by X-Press Feeders, as part of a new weekly service linking Surabaya with key ports in southern China.
The vessel berthed at Container Terminal (TPK) Teluk Lamong on June 1, marking the launch of the South China Java Express (SCJX) service, the second new international shipping service introduced at the terminal this year.
The SCJX service provides direct connections between Surabaya and major ports in southern China, including Yantian, Xiamen and Nansha, offering exporters and importers an additional shipping option to support growing trade volumes.
The MV WANTAI, a Liberia-flagged container ship with a capacity of 2,902 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), handled 1,250 TEUs during its inaugural call at Teluk Lamong.
The vessel operates on a route connecting Jakarta, Surabaya, Yantian, Xiamen and Nansha, enhancing access to industrial centers and trading hubs in southern China.

Capt. Pierre Rochel T., Terminal Head of TPK Teluk Lamong, said the addition of the SCJX service further strengthens the terminal’s role as a gateway for international trade in eastern Indonesia.
“The SCJX service provides exporters and importers with a more competitive connectivity option, particularly to major ports in southern China,” Pierre said.
“We welcome the trust placed in Teluk Lamong by X-Press Feeders in selecting the terminal as one of its ports of call.”
Pierre said the growing number of regular international services reflects increasing confidence among global shipping lines in the terminal’s operational reliability and service standards.
“We remain committed to maintaining productivity, operational reliability and service certainty to support customer needs and the growth of international trade through Surabaya,” he added.
Captain Wang Yongfu, master of the MV WANTAI, praised the terminal’s facilities and operations following the vessel’s first call.
“Teluk Lamong made a very positive impression on us. The environment is clean, operations are well organized, and the green port concept is clearly visible,” Wang said.
The launch of the SCJX service forms part of Teluk Lamong’s efforts to expand maritime connectivity, strengthen international shipping networks and improve supply-chain efficiency. As Indonesia’s first semi-automated container terminal to adopt a green port concept, Teluk Lamong continues to invest in operational efficiency and sustainable port services to support national and international trade.
