International Traffic Drives Terminal Teluk Lamong’s 13.3% Throughput Growth in H1

International shipping expansion and digital transformation drove container volumes higher, strengthening Terminal Teluk Lamong Group’s operational efficiency, maritime connectivity and Indonesia’s increasingly competitive logistics network

PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) Group reported a 13.3% rise in container throughput in the first half (H1) of 2026, driven by expanding international shipping services and higher cargo volumes as Indonesia’s logistics sector continued to grow.

The terminal operator handled 1.47 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) during the January–June period, up from 1.30 million TEUs a year earlier.

The increase was led by strong growth in international container traffic following the expansion of services at TPK Teluk Lamong. International vessel calls reached 255 in the first six months of the year, compared with 160 during the same period in 2025, an increase of nearly 60%.

The additional international services strengthened the terminal’s connectivity with global shipping networks and supported higher container volumes, the company said.

TPK Nilam also recorded strong growth, with throughput rising 21.1% from a year earlier. The increase was supported by the implementation of the Express Anchorage Zone Service (EAZI), a joint initiative between PT Terminal Teluk Lamong and the Tanjung Perak Main Harbormaster and Port Authority (KSOP) to improve vessel traffic management in Surabaya’s Anchorage Zone 2.

As a result, vessel calls at TPK Nilam increased to 399 during the first half of 2026 from 383 a year earlier, contributing to higher cargo handling volumes.

“The growth of Indonesia’s logistics sector during the first half of 2026 has provided positive momentum for port operations,” President Director David Pandapotan Sirait said.

He said the company would continue accelerating its digital transformation, improving operational productivity and enhancing service quality while expanding maritime connectivity to support national logistics distribution.

Looking ahead to the second half of the year, TTL Group plans to continue investing in productivity improvements, digital-based service optimization, expansion of shipping networks and stronger maritime connectivity.

A key initiative will be extending the Express Anchorage Zone Service to TPK Berlian after its implementation at TPK Nilam improved vessel handling efficiency and supported throughput growth, the company said.

TTL Group said it expects the program to reduce vessel turnaround times, improve terminal productivity and strengthen the competitiveness of its port services.
