Loading and unloading activities at the Bagendang Bumiharjo Container Terminal (TPK Bagendang) in Central Kalimantan continued normally during International Labor Day celebrations on May 1, with port operators and dockworkers maintaining logistics flows while strengthening workplace safety measures.
Operations at the terminal ran without disruption as the Pelindo Group and the Karya Bahari Sampit Stevedoring Workers Cooperative (TKBM) coordinated to ensure the steady movement of goods through the port, management said.
Akhmad Fajar, head of TPK Bagendang Bumiharjo, said cooperation between terminal operators and workers had been key to maintaining productivity during the holiday period.
“The synergy that has been built so far has allowed operations to continue running smoothly, even during moments such as Labor Day,” Fajar said in a statement.
Nurhadi, chairman of the Sampit Karya Bahari TKBM Services Cooperative, said workers remained prepared to support uninterrupted port activities to help maintain stable logistics distribution for the region.
Alongside ongoing operations, the terminal management also used the Labor Day commemoration to reinforce occupational safety standards by holding a “Safety Stand Down” event involving workers and business partners operating within the terminal area.
During the event, operations were temporarily paused to provide training and evaluation sessions related to occupational health and safety practices, including hazard identification, the use of personal protective equipment and emergency response procedures.
Management said the initiative aimed to strengthen awareness of workplace safety standards and reduce the risk of accidents while supporting efficient port operations.
The terminal said the program forms part of its broader effort to promote a “safety first” culture and achieve long-term zero-accident targets.
TPK Bagendang Bumiharjo is one of the logistics gateways supporting cargo distribution in Central Kalimantan, where port operations play a key role in maintaining the flow of goods to businesses and communities across the region.
