Operations at the Kendari Container Terminal (TPK Kendari) continued normally on Monday despite a protest by a group of truck drivers near the main access road to the terminal, terminal management said.
Loading and unloading activities, container handling and other terminal services have proceeded as scheduled, with operations prioritizing safety, security and service continuity for users, TPK Kendari said in a statement.
The protest, which took place outside the terminal area, did not disrupt activities within the port, according to Terminal Head Herryanto.
“The demonstrations have not affected terminal operations. We ensure that loading and unloading activities and container services at the Kendari Container Terminal continue to run normally and in accordance with procedures,” Herryanto said.
TPK Kendari said it is coordinating closely with the Kendari City Government to address the condition of the access road leading to the terminal, which has been cited as a concern by drivers. In a meeting held on Monday afternoon, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to accelerate repairs and improvements to the road.
As a temporary measure, TPK Kendari has begun filling damaged sections of the road with sand and stone since Sunday to reduce the risk of traffic accidents for both motorcycles and four-wheeled vehicles, pending more comprehensive repairs by the city government.
The terminal is currently handling cargo operations for the vessel Meratus Larantuka. The KM SPIL Rahayu completed its services and departed the terminal at 9:34 a.m. on Monday. TPK Kendari is also scheduled to receive the arrivals of KM Kabonga Baru, KM Huanghe Mas and KM Tanto Kawan.
Abd. Rahim Nabok, head of the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI/ILFA) for Southeast Sulawesi, welcomed the terminal’s swift response in carrying out temporary repairs.
“We appreciate TPK Kendari’s quick action in filling potholes at the terminal entrance,” Rahim said. “We hope the Kendari City Government can resolve this road access issue as soon as possible, no later than Tuesday, January 6, 2026, to ensure smooth logistics flows and the safety of road users.”
