Koja Container Terminal (TPK Koja) moved quickly on Tuesday to ease traffic congestion around one of Jakarta’s busiest port corridors, diverting trucks directly onto toll roads and temporarily waiving toll fees to keep logistics moving.
Traffic snarls along Jalan Jampea and Jalan Raya Cakung–Cilincing had built up since early morning, disrupting local activity and slowing the movement of cargo vehicles serving the port. The congestion spilled into surrounding neighborhoods, underscoring the strain placed on key transport arteries near Indonesia’s main logistics hubs.
In response, TPK Koja coordinated internally and with relevant authorities to reroute all trucks exiting the terminal away from the main arterial road.
Vehicles leaving through the TPK Koja exit gate were instead directed straight onto the toll road network, a move aimed at easing pressure on surface streets.

To further accelerate traffic flow, the terminal operator waived toll fees for all trucks using the diversion during the congestion management period, absorbing the cost in an effort to minimize wider disruption.
“This step reflects our commitment not only to maintaining smooth terminal operations, but also to actively addressing traffic and environmental challenges around the port,” TPK Koja’s corporate secretary said. “The diversion and toll-free access are intended to ensure congestion is resolved as quickly as possible.”
The company said it continues to monitor conditions on the ground and remains in close coordination with transport partners and authorities until traffic returns to normal.
TPK Koja urged drivers and logistics operators to follow directions from field officers to ensure safety and efficiency. The swift response highlights the growing pressure on Indonesia’s port infrastructure as cargo volumes rise, and the role terminal operators are increasingly expected to play in managing congestion beyond their gates, balancing national logistics needs with the daily realities faced by surrounding communities.
