PT Terminal Teluk Lamong will implement Berthing Window and Berthing Priority at Berlian Container Terminal from July 1 to improve scheduling, reduce waiting times, and boost operational efficiency
PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) will introduce Berthing Window and Berthing Priority systems at Berlian Container Terminal (TPK Berlian) from July 1, aiming to improve vessel scheduling and reduce waiting times as ship traffic continues to increase at ports in East Java.
The terminal operator said rising logistics activity and container volumes have increased demand for more predictable berthing schedules, particularly for shipping lines seeking to maintain connections with subsequent voyages.
Under the Berthing Window system, vessels are assigned predetermined berthing time slots to improve schedule certainty and minimize waiting times and port stays during cargo operations.
TTL has already implemented the system at Teluk Lamong Port and Nilam Port, with Berlian Container Terminal becoming the latest facility to adopt the approach.

At TPK Berlian, the Berthing Window scheme will operate on seven-day, five-day, and 3.5-day scheduling cycles. Vessels outside those windows will be accommodated through the Berthing Priority program, which allocates berths based on advance bookings submitted by shipping lines.
The company said shipping lines will be required to provide regular updates on estimated vessel arrival times to support efficient berth planning.
“To support this implementation, we will optimize four berths as dedicated berthing windows to ensure vessel allocation is more structured, organized, and efficient,” Berlian Terminal Head Burhanudin said.
TTL introduced the new operating system to shipping companies and other stakeholders during a customer engagement session held in Surabaya on June 22. Participants included PT Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines, PT Meratus Line, PT Tanto Intim Line, PT Temas Shipping, PT Indo Container Lines, PT PPN Panurjwan, PT Caraka Tirta Perkasa, and PT Mentari Mas Multimoda.

Burhanudin said the initiative is intended to improve schedule reliability, increase service speed, and create a more transparent and efficient operational environment, while contributing to lower logistics costs.
The system is supported by digital infrastructure that enables customers to monitor operational schedules electronically, in line with PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas’ broader efforts to standardize services and improve productivity across its container terminal network.
TTL said it expects the implementation of Berthing Window and Berthing Priority at TPK Berlian to improve berth planning, shorten vessel waiting times, increase cargo handling productivity, and support more efficient national logistics flows.
