Handling Export of Palm Kernell Shell, Pelindo Multi Terminal Marks First Operation in Dumai

PT Pelindo Multi Terminal (SPMT) has officially marked its first operation at Dumai Port, Riau. Its first operation on January 1, 2022, was marked by handling of Panama-flagged MV Alahas Vessel.

The welcoming of MV Alahas was also an inauguration of the first call at Dumai Port in 2022. The inauguration was led directly by the SPMT Operations Director Ridwan Sani Siregar.  Ridwan directly delivered souvenirs to the cargo owner PT Jatim Propertindo Jaya and shipping agent PT Pelayaran Cahaya Papua.

On her remark call, the MV Alahas, a vessel having length of 110m and a weight of 8,615 GT, loaded commodities of 10,000 metric tons of Palm Kernell Shell (PKS/shell) exported to Japan.

“This (official involvement of PT Pelindo Multi Terminal at Dumai) proves the team’s achievement, thanks to their hard work. This is expected to be the initial momentum in 2022 to realize SPMT as an Indonesian Connectivity Champion,” Drajat Sulistyo, President Director of PT. Pelindo Multi Terminal, said for commending this milestone.

PT Pelindo Multi Terminal is a sub-holding of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) / Pelindo which was formed on October 1, 2021. PT Pelindo Multi Terminal focuses its port services on managing non-container terminals, such as liquid bulk, dry bulk, multipurpose terminals, to passenger terminals and vehicle terminals.

A series of activities had been earlier carried out by PT Pelindo Multi Terminal in preparation for the operational preparation of the Dumai Port Terminal, starting from End User Training on Terminal Operating System (TOS) implementation for SPMT employees which was held from 24 to 30 December 2021.

In addition, some other activities have also been executed, including socialization to Dumai Port service users on December 29, 2021, Joint Prayer and Compensation for Orphans and Gala Dinner with Dumai Port Stakeholders on December 30, 2021, as well as a Board of Directors Briefing to the entire SPMT team in the Dumai work area on December 31, 202

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, Dumai Port continues to record positive performance in shipping CPO and its derivatives in Indonesia with an average figure of more than 400,000 tons per month. Types of liquid bulk commodities sent from this port include Crude Palm Oil (CPO) which is exported to India, China and Europe. Meanwhile, for dry bulk, the Palm Kernel Expeller (PKE) and Palm Kernel Shell (PKS) are mostly exported to East Asia and Europe.
