INSA Jaya Visits Taizhou Fangxing Shipbuilding

Delegation of Indonesia National Shipowners’ Association Chapter Jakarta (INSA Jaya) – represented by Secretary M. Erwin Y. Zubir Deputy Treasurer Pahala Sianturi – has just visited Taizhou Fangxing Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. China. This visit remained a response of an official invitation from the headquarter of this one of China’s leading shipbuilders.

The invitation was delivered on the sideline of negotiation between the shipbuilder and Indonesia’s mining company Nukkuwatu Group.  Nukkuwatu Group, a mining company doing business in nickel & coal mines will order to build some vessels from this shipbuilder.

The board of directors of Nukkuwatu Group, including President Director Ardiatma Jeffri, Finance Director Kasimyuyu Yusran and representatives of Taizhou Fangxing Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. in Indonesia Hasan Sadikin Phan joint the visit.

Taizhou Fangxing Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., a well-known company in the shipbuilding industry located in Taizho – China, covering an area of 150 Ha founded in 1931, can build 40 ships simultaneously with 1500 workers. This company also has experience building various types of commercial ships and warships for domestic and foreign purposes.

Managing Director Taizhou Fangxing Shipbuilding Co. Ltd welcomes the visit, while some local government representatives including Zheng Jianping (Vice Chairman of Taizho City), Jinbaonding (Deputy Secretary of Taizho City), Zhang Fugui (Director of Taizho Municipal & Ocean Bureau) witnessed the event.

The local government strongly supports business cooperation between Taizhou Fangxing Shipbuilding Co. Ltd & PT. Nukkuwatu Group, in which it will directly supervise quality and provide convenience in financing the construction of the ship. The local government hopes that there will be a continuation of shipping companies in Jakarta to do collaboration with Taizhou Fangxing Shipbuilding in building vessels.

Commending this visit INSA Jaya Secretary M. Erwin Y. Zubir expressed appreciation of being involved in the negotiation process. He said, this remained an initial step for all INSA Jaya members to build cooperation with Taizhou Fangxing Shipbuilding in building vessels.

“Thanks for this invitation as we also had the opportunity to directly watch the shipyard facilities which are one of the best in the Chinese region. Hopefully, Taizhou Fangxing Shipbuilding can schedule a business meeting with several shipping companies in Jakarta in May 2024. INSA Jaya has initiated it,” Erwin said.

INSA Jaya also delegation also optimized the opportunity to discuss issues relating vessel building with Taizhou Fangxing Shipbuilding top executives and officials from the local government. The discussion relates to how to maintain the best quality, timely completion, competitive prices and an attractive payment system.

“We will report and share what we found during our visit and discussions to INSA Jaya Chairman Capt. Alimudin and INSA Chairwoman, of course,” added Pahala Sianturi.

INSA Jaya expects that this visit will give experience to initiate some breakthrough in how to build qualified vessels with better funding system, thus supporting the national shipping industry growth. “Hopefully, this will be a solution to undertake our problem of vessel shortage in the future,” Erwin noted.
