Container terminal operator IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK), a subsidiary of Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (SPTP), has launched the ‘Port Safe’ application, a safety awareness monitoring system for the IPC TPK work environment. This initiative represents a significant innovation in port operations as part of the digital transformation towards a Smart Port.
“We have launched a web-based application to enhance safety in the port work area. The introduction of Port Safe aims to achieve zero accidents, improve security and comfort during operational activities in the terminal, and boost terminal productivity,” said Guna Mulyana, President Director of IPC TPK.

The launch and introduction of Port Safe took place during the second QHSSE Forum in 2024, which serves as a platform for communication and discussion between IPC TPK management and stakeholders regarding Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) practices at the port. The event was held at the Indonesian Maritime Museum and attended by the Board of Directors and Management of IPC TPK, representatives from industry associations, stevedoring partners, service users, and the dockers (TKBM) within the IPC TPK Tanjung Priok environment.
The Port Safe application is designed to enhance worker awareness regarding safety protocols and sterilization in the IPC TPK container terminal area. It also monitors all stakeholder activities entering or exiting the container terminal managed by IPC TPK. Currently, the implementation is underway at IPC TPK Tanjung Priok Area 2, with plans for a phased rollout throughout the entire IPC TPK work area.

“Port Safe is an innovation developed internally at IPC TPK, aimed at increasing awareness among all port stakeholders regarding K3 (Health, Safety, and Environment) aspects in our work environment. The application also enhances the control center’s ability to regulate and manage terminal conditions, ensuring they remain safe, healthy, and secure,” Guna concluded.
With the Port Safe application, security personnel can quickly identify any dangerous conditions that may arise. Reports are sent in real time to the Safety Control team, allowing the HSSE team to monitor or escalate issues via CCTV and provide immediate warnings on-site.
