PT Pelindo Jasa Maritim Subholding (SPJM), a subsidiary of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), is fully prepared to manage the anticipated surge in passenger and cargo movements during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
This increase in traffic is directly correlated with a rise in ship activity, which is expected to see a significant jump.
As SPJM’s core business includes providing marine services, equipment, port services, dredging, and shipyards, ensuring smooth operations at the ports is critical.
“We are committed to ensuring that all fleets, facilities, and infrastructure supporting maritime activities are ready for operation, with resource utilization optimized to ensure a smooth flow of activities. Additionally, we are closely monitoring the readiness of port equipment, which plays a crucial role in maintaining port performance, particularly during ship waiting times,” said Edward Danner Pardamean Napitupulu, SPJM’s Director of Operations and Engineering.
“We are also focused on ensuring that ships’ operational needs, such as water, materials, fuel, and electricity, are met efficiently. Furthermore, we make certain that operational personnel on duty are in peak condition and adhere to established service protocols, with an emphasis on workplace safety,” Edward added.
To ensure service reliability during the holiday period, SPJM has implemented several strategic measures, including: Adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Operational Procedures (Protap) for ship and terminal services while proactively anticipating and mitigating potential risks and hazards; regularly monitoring up-to-date weather reports from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG); and coordinating with the Port Authority (KSOP) and local stakeholders to assess service safety during adverse weather conditions.
In addition, other strategic measures include maintaining both the physical and mental health of employees during national holidays and joint leave periods to ensure optimal concentration and alertness and checking the availability and functionality of safety facilities and infrastructure, ensuring they meet established standards. Additionally, the Emergency Response Team is on standby to address incidents and maintain high levels of vigilance.
As a key player in the logistics chain and passenger service sector, SPJM remains committed to providing exceptional services, especially during peak periods when the flow of logistics and passengers increases. This commitment aligns with SPJM’s vision of becoming a world-class integrated maritime service leader by ensuring the reliability of its services.
In line with the digitalization of services, SPJM has launched user-friendly applications accessible from anywhere, simplifying service access. Furthermore, SPJM has established a 24/7 call center at 081153507878. Service users can contact this number to submit suggestions or complaints, allowing SPJM to promptly address any service-related issues.
“Our services will continue to operate as usual during the long holiday season, ensuring that passengers and cargo owners can carry out their activities with peace of mind, knowing that they are safe, secure, and well taken care of,” Edward said.
