As part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing work health and safety (K3) awareness in the port sector, Pelindo, through its Subholding Pelindo Multi Terminal (SPMT), has partnered with the East Java Province’ Work Safety and Health Council (DK3) and the Indonesia Stevedoring Companies’ Association (APBMI) to hold a K3 awareness event for stevedoring companies (PBM) at the Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya on Tuesday (24/12).
The event, titled “Integration of K3 and Productivity in the Port: The Key to Reliable Logistics Performance,” reflects Pelindo’s dedication to fostering a safety culture not only within its own group but across all port stakeholders.
The event featured prominent speakers, including Bondan Winarno, Group Head of K3 and Sisman Pelindo; Agustinus Maun, Head of Tanjung Perak Port Authority and Harbour Master (KSOP Tanjung Perak); and Sigit Priyanto, Head of the East Java Province Manpower and Transmigration Office. Also in attendance were the Head of Manpower & K3, the Head of Supervision, and Chairman of APBMI Surabaya.
“Safety is Pelindo’s top priority, and the Corporate Life Saving Rules (CLSR) serve as our core guidelines to ensure that safety principles are deeply embedded and practiced across all work environments. By adhering to the CLSR, Pelindo is committed to creating a safe, healthy, and productive workplace that sustains the company and benefits the community,” explained Bondan Winarno, Group Head of K3 and Sisman Pelindo.
Agustinus Maun, Head of the Main KSOP Office Tanjung Perak, emphasized the importance of integrating K3, port productivity, and logistics performance to enhance the competitiveness of Indonesia’s logistics sector globally. “The consistent implementation of K3 at Tanjung Perak Port is expected to set a national benchmark and be a collective achievement of all stakeholders,” he said.
Sigit Priyanto, Head of the East Java Province Manpower and Transmigration Office, acknowledged the significance of the K3 Awareness initiative. “These activities are a strategic step in cultivating a safety culture across all work sectors. We commend Pelindo and its partners for prioritizing safety, which aligns with efforts to improve the nation’s logistics competitiveness on the global stage.”
During the event, a symbolic key was placed on the Safety Lock board, representing the commitment of all port stakeholders to uphold the K3 culture. Each key installed signifies a collective determination to maintain a safe, productive, and sustainable work environment.
Additionally, Edi Priyanto, HR Director of SPMT, highlighted that SPMT is not only focused on instilling a K3 culture internally but is also dedicated to promoting it among external stakeholders, such as stevedores (TKBM), truck drivers, and stevedoring companies. This initiative marks the first step in extending Pelindo’s commitment to K3 across Indonesia, offering a model for future implementation in other regions.
“The externalization of our safety practices aligns with our Creating Shared Value (CSV) principle, which underscores our contribution to social and environmental sustainability. We hope that stevedoring companies will actively participate in building a strong OHS culture at the port. Together, we aim to create a port that is not only productive but also safe and competitive, ultimately supporting improved national logistics performance,” concluded Edi.
