CMA CGM Kauri Maiden Call Marks JICT’s New Services

The Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) marked a significant milestone with the arrival of the CMA CGM Kauri on its maiden voyage, berthing at Indonesia’s busiest container terminal on Thursday, February 6, 2025. This new service signals JICT’s anticipated growth and increasing confidence from global shipping stakeholders.

In 2024, JICT handled over 2 million TEUs of export-import container volume, reinforcing its position as a key player in Indonesia’s maritime logistics sector. The CMA CGM Kauri service strengthens trade routes by linking Northern China and the Philippines with Indonesian ports through JICT, facilitating smoother and more efficient cargo movement.

JICT President Director Ade Hartono emphasized that the arrival of CMA CGM Kauri reflects the growing trust service users place in JICT’s operations.

“We are honored and grateful for this new service from CMA CGM Kauri. Our goal remains to deliver top-tier service to our customers,” said Ade during the ship’s welcoming ceremony at JICT’s North Pier, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.

Ade also reaffirmed JICT’s commitment to reducing ship port stay time through investments in advanced equipment. This initiative aligns with Pelindo’s national program to develop a world-class maritime ecosystem.

“We are set to acquire new super post-panamax cranes, five electrified rubber-tired gantry cranes (e-RTGCs), and new trucks. These enhancements highlight JICT’s dedication to providing efficient and reliable service while minimizing port stay duration,” he stated.

CMA CGM Kauri’s Captain, Sviatoslav Getta, underscored Indonesia and JICT’s strategic significance to the CMA CGM Group.

“We are highly impressed by JICT’s safety and productivity standards. We hope that JICT’s ongoing service improvements will positively impact CMA CGM and all vessels docking at this port,” Getta remarked.

The welcoming ceremony saw the presence of notable figures, including CMA CGM Indonesia President Director Michel Azrak, Pelindo Terminal Petikemas Subholding President Director M. Adji, CMA CGM Kauri Chief Officer Oleksandr Kornov, and representatives from the Tanjung Priok Port Authority.

Connecting Indonesia with Northern China

The CMA CGM Kauri is a state-of-the-art container ship, part of the American Presidents series operated by APL. Built to support the growing demands of global trade, the vessel is one of ten sister ships designed to optimize maritime logistics across key trade routes.

Measuring 255 meters in length, the CMA CGM Kauri boasts 800 reefer plugs, making it ideal for transporting temperature-sensitive cargo such as perishable goods and pharmaceuticals. With a total capacity of 5,500 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), the vessel maximizes space utilization while maintaining operational efficiency.

Constructed at the renowned Qingdao Beihai shipyard, the vessel was delivered on December 3, 2024, as the eighth ship in its series. It plays a pivotal role in CMA CGM’s commitment to bolstering global shipping networks.

Currently assigned to CNC’s KCS service, the CMA CGM Kauri operates on a key shipping route connecting Northern China with Indonesia and the Philippines via Singapore. This service streamlines the movement of goods between some of Asia’s busiest ports, fostering regional trade and economic growth.

At the helm, Master Sviatoslav Getta ensures the vessel’s smooth navigation across international waters. He is supported by Chief Officer Oleksandr Kornov, who oversees the deck department, and Chief Engineer Marynov Oleksandr, responsible for the ship’s vital machinery operations.
