To optimize logistics services at Tanjung Perak Port, PT Pelindo Solusi Logistik (SPSL), a subsidiary of state-owned Pelindo, is fully supporting the deployment of container scanners at the custom-bonded area or Temporary Storage Area (TPS) of PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya.
SPSL Commercial and Engineering Director Ruri I. Rachmaputri explained that this initiative aligns with the company’s commitment to supporting the government’s strategic efforts to enhance the efficiency and security of export-import at Indonesia’s major international ports in particular, including those in Medan, Jakarta, Semarang, and Surabaya.

Ruri I. Rachmaputri: “We are proud to be part of this important initiative.”
“We are proud to be part of this important initiative,” Ruri said. “With the installation of these container scanners, we aim to speed up, improve accuracy, and increase transparency in the inspection process. This will not only facilitate smoother national logistics but also strengthen security for goods entering and leaving the port. Additionally, it plays a crucial role in boosting the competitiveness of our ports on the global stage.”
Ruri also highlighted that the use of container scanners equipped with x-ray technology represents a strategic move towards accelerating the modernization and operational efficiency of Indonesia’s ports. This technology was first introduced at Tanjung Priok Port on December 18, 2024, with four similar units installed within the Pelindo Solusi Logistik Group’s operational area—part of a total of nine units now functioning at the port.
“The deployment of container scanners at Tanjung Priok Port is expected to enhance global confidence in the security of goods flows through Indonesia. This will also serve as proof of Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining international security standards at its ports. This year, we will fast-track the installation of container scanners at Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya and expand the initiative to other key ports,” Ruri added.
During a recent visit to PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya, Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati emphasized the capabilities of the new container scanners, which are capable of inspecting 100% of a container’s contents using x-ray technology.
“The x-rays we have at Tanjung Priok will also be installed at Tanjung Perak and Tanjung Emas (Semarang), ensuring that all ports will have scanners that can fully inspect containers,” Sri Mulyani said.
As part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing efficiency and transparency in the port and logistics sector, Pelindo Solusi Logistik is actively involved in providing these container scanners. This initiative is in line with the government’s Asta Cita pillar and the company’s goal of offering excellent service while fostering a more organized, transparent, and corruption-free logistics ecosystem.

Joko Noerhudha: “By modernizing container scanners, we aim to reduce logistics costs.”
SPSL President Director Joko Noerhudha expects the installation of x-ray container scanners will streamline the movement of cargoes through the ports, improve the logistics process, and contribute to the nation’s economic growth.
“The reliability and efficiency of port services are vital to Indonesia’s competitiveness in global trade. By modernizing container scanners, we aim to reduce logistics costs, speed up inspections, provide greater certainty for businesses, and minimize delays,” said Joko.
“Ultimately, this will support smooth exports and imports and contribute to the nation’s economic growth, further establishing Indonesia as a hub for integrated logistics,” Joko concluded,” he said further.
