Chinese shipping giant COSCO has launched a new weekly service connecting Surabaya to India’s Nava Sheva port, with Indonesia’s Teluk Lamong Terminal chosen as a key port of call on the route.
The newly introduced SEI 1 Service links Surabaya – Jakarta – Singapore – Port Klang – Nava Sheva, and made its maiden stop at Teluk Lamong Container Terminal (TTL) on Wednesday.
The first vessel on the route, the MV Xin Tai Cang, a Chinese-flagged container ship, berthed at the terminal with 2,549 TEUs handled during the inaugural call. The vessel measures 263.6 meters in length, has a gross tonnage of 41,482 GT, and a maximum draft of 11.4 meters.
The new service marks the second COSCO route operating through TTL, following the established CTI Service. Its addition signals growing confidence in the terminal’s performance and operational efficiency.
“We appreciate COSCO Shipping’s continued trust in TTL,” said David Pandapotan Sirait, President Director of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong. “This collaboration reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering fast, reliable service for all our customers.”
COSCO Shipping praised the terminal’s handling of the maiden call.
“This was our first berthing at TTL, and we were very satisfied with the smooth, efficient process,” said Captain Li Wei, a COSCO representative.
TTL has reported several operational milestones in 2025. These include a record-setting ship-to-ship transfer time of 34 minutes between the MV Okinawa and MV Sally on April 2, and a reduction in average berthing time to 19.74 hours, down from 20.19 hours the previous year.
PT Terminal Teluk Lamong, a subsidiary of state port operator Pelindo, continues to position itself as a strategic logistics hub in Eastern Indonesia. The terminal aims to support national logistics cost optimization, expand international trade routes, and stimulate the country’s export-import sector.
