Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) marked a major milestone this week after surpassing 50 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) handled since operations began in 1999, a level the operator says underscores its role in Indonesia’s trade network as it enters its final operational year.
The company celebrated the achievement at its 2025 Customer Appreciation Night, themed “50+ Million TEUs, JICT’s Contribution to Indonesia,” where executives highlighted the terminal’s contribution to national logistics and its standing as one of Southeast Asia’s busiest container hubs.

JICT President Director Ade Hartono: “This milestone reflects years of operational consistency and collaboration with customers.”
JICT President Director Ade Hartono said the milestone reflects years of operational consistency and collaboration with customers, particularly international shipping lines that continue to rely on the terminal’s services.
“For more than two decades, JICT has grown alongside its customers and shipping partners. This 50 million TEU milestone shows that operational reliability, technological transformation and service commitment remain the foundations we uphold,” Ade said at the event in Central Jakarta on Friday, November 21, 2025.
He said the terminal has accelerated digital transformation in recent years and increased investment in port equipment to improve productivity and efficiency. “We are committed to modernising the terminal, from upgrading cranes and reach stackers to digitising operational systems and improving security and transparency,” he said.
Shareholder’s Appreciation and Support
Pelindo Commercial Director Drajat Sulistyo said the milestone reflects the long-term commitment of shareholders to building a competitive and efficient national port ecosystem. He praised JICT’s performance, calling the 50 million TEU achievement a testament to sustained investment, disciplined operations and strong collaboration with global shipping partners.
“JICT’s accomplishment is not only a corporate milestone but a reflection of Pelindo’s vision to elevate Indonesia’s port services to international standards,” Drajat said. “We appreciate the dedication of JICT’s management and employees, whose efforts have helped strengthen Indonesia’s logistics competitiveness.”
He added that Pelindo will continue supporting JICT’s transformation initiatives, including digital integration and equipment upgrades, to ensure the terminal remains a key gateway for the country’s trade flows. “With continued collaboration among stakeholders, I am confident JICT will further enhance service quality and contribute even more to our national logistics network,” he said.

JICT also presented awards to several global carriers in categories including longest service partnership, highest volume growth and largest contribution. Shipping lines featured in the event included CMA CGM, COSCO, Ocean Network Express (ONE), Wan Hai Lines (WHL) and KMTC.
The ceremony featured a video chronicling the terminal’s 26-year journey before closing with a segment titled “Beyond 50 Million TEUs,” which highlighted JICT’s evolution and ambitions as it continues adapting to customer needs.

“JICT has grown alongside its customers.”
Ade said he hoped the trust of customers and partners would strengthen JICT’s position as a leading Indonesian container terminal. “With the support of our partners, shareholders and employees, we are optimistic JICT can continue delivering high-quality service and remain a vital part of Indonesia’s logistics future,” he said.
