IPC TPK Pontianak Reports a 14.3% Throughput Rise in October

IPC Container Terminal (IPC TPK) Pontianak reported a 14.3% rise in operational volume in October 2025, handling 26,275 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) compared with 22,994 TEUs in the same month a year earlier, the operator said on Friday.

The growth reinforces the positive performance trend at West Kalimantan’s largest container terminal.

“This increase demonstrates that our strength lies in productivity on the ground. By improving handling per call, we aim to keep logistics flowing smoothly across West Kalimantan,” said IPC TPK Pontianak Area Manager M. Loutfie Hidayat.

The October performance was supported by a 24% rise in 40-foot container movements, an average of 611 TEUs handled per port call, and 14 additional ship calls from one shipping line.

The improvement comes amid mixed regional trade indicators. Data from the West Kalimantan Statistics Agency (BPS) showed exports in September 2025 plunged 71% year-on-year to USD 63.22 million, down from USD 222.93 million in 2024, while imports edged up 0.3%.

The contrast highlights how port activity rebounded even as external trade weakened, driven largely by domestic logistics demand and shipments of consumer and manufactured goods.

“Amid a declining export trend, port operations must serve as a driver rather than simply follow market movements. We are committed to strengthening logistics performance to support West Kalimantan’s trade recovery,” Loutfie said.
