Terminal Teluk Lamong Strengthens Global Links with Maiden Call of MV YM CONTINUITY

Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) on Wednesday welcomed the maiden call of the MV YM CONTINUITY, marking the launch of a new China-Indonesia-Malaysia container service and reinforcing the terminal’s role in regional and global trade flows.

The container vessel, operated under a joint service by Yang Ming Marine Transport, Evergreen Marine and Wan Hai Lines, docked at Teluk Lamong’s international pier at 8 a.m. local time on Dec. 17.

Representatives from Yang Ming Shipping, including owner’s representative Jonah Hsu, attended the inaugural call.

The new service connects major ports in northern and eastern China with Southeast Asia, calling at Tianjin, Dalian, Qingdao and Ningbo before proceeding to Surabaya and Jakarta, and onward to Singapore, Port Klang and Kaohsiung. The route is scheduled to operate on a weekly basis.

Measuring 210 metres in length and 33 metres in width, the MV YM CONTINUITY has a capacity of 2,940 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). During its first call at Teluk Lamong, the vessel handled 891 containers, equivalent to 1,540 TEUs, according to terminal data.

Captain Tongfei Zhang praised the terminal’s performance, citing efficient berthing operations upon arrival.

“The service was very professional and efficient. We were served directly at the berth without any waiting time,” Zhang said.

TTL President Director David Pandapotan Sirait said the maiden call reflected growing confidence among international shipping lines in the terminal’s operational standards.

“The arrival of the MV YM CONTINUITY demonstrates the trust of global shipping companies in the reliability and quality of services at Terminal Teluk Lamong,” David said.

He added that the terminal’s modern infrastructure, including high-tech cargo-handling equipment and Indonesia’s first semi-automated container terminal system, supports safe, efficient and environmentally friendly operations.

Teluk Lamong, one of Indonesia’s key logistics gateways, aims to strengthen its position as a competitive hub for international trade by expanding connectivity and improving service reliability, Sirait said.
