IPC TPK, Temas Group Partner to Ship Disaster Aid to Aceh

Indonesia’s IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) has facilitated the movement of disaster relief supplies through Tanjung Priok Port to Aceh province, as authorities and state-linked companies moved to accelerate aid deliveries following infrastructure damage that disrupted access in the region.

The shipments were handled through Terminal Operations 3 (TER3) at the country’s busiest port, highlighting the port’s role as a key logistics gateway in supporting emergency response and humanitarian operations.

The aid distribution involved coordination between shipping company PT Temas Tbk, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), the Ministry of Transportation, the Tanjung Priok Port Authority (KSOP), the Indonesian National Shipowners’ Association (INSA), and state energy firm PT Pertamina (Persero), with operational support from IPC TPK, a subsidiary of state-owned port operator Pelindo.

Relief cargo was transported using two vessels operated by Temas Group. The MV Belik Mas V 8325 arrived at Terminal Operations 3 from Balikpapan on Friday, Dec. 19, where it discharged containerized cargo. The aid was then transshipped on Saturday onto the KM Barito Mas V 96, which departed Jakarta for Lhokseumawe port in Aceh.

The departure of the KM Barito Mas V 96 was attended by Indonesia’s Minister of Transportation alongside representatives from relevant agencies, underscoring cross-sector coordination to ensure the timely delivery of humanitarian assistance.

In total, the shipment comprised 12 20-foot containers containing aid from PUPR, PT Temas Tbk, INSA, the Lhokseumawe community in Jakarta and the Indonesian Adventurers Community. Additional cargo included vehicles and non-containerized equipment, such as two tanker trucks, three water treatment plant box trucks and four water treatment units.

Pertamina provided logistical support in the form of fuel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) drums to ensure energy availability for emergency response operations in affected areas.

The assistance was mobilised in response to a disaster that disrupted access to clean water in several parts of Aceh, raising health risks and limiting daily activities. Water tankers, treatment units and fuel supplies were prioritised to support both residents and emergency responders.
