IPC TPK Adds Ad Hoc Service from CMA CGM on Year End Cargo Surge

IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) has added ad hoc container handling services in cooperation with global shipping line CMA CGM to accommodate rising freight volumes toward the end of the year and to maintain the smooth flow of international logistics.

The additional service began with the arrival of the container vessel MV Hai Yun at IPC TPK’s Tanjung Priok Terminal 3 on Dec. 21, calling on the Shanghai–Jakarta–Singapore route. The move is aimed at increasing cargo capacity from China and other intra-Asia trade lanes to Indonesia during the peak year-end period, when space constraints are common.

The Singapore-flagged vessel, measuring more than 170 metres in length with a 28-metre beam, handled 742 container boxes during its call in Jakarta before continuing its voyage to Singapore, IPC TPK said.

Berthing and cargo operations were supported by integrated, plan-based services, including berthing on arrival, to minimise vessel waiting times and ensure operational efficiency.

IPC TPK Corporate Secretary Pramesti Wulandari said the provision of ad hoc services reflects the company’s commitment to working closely with shipping lines to respond quickly to market demand.

“IPC TPK is committed to being a strategic partner for shipping companies by providing flexible, responsive and ready terminal services supported by strong operational planning,” Pramesti said.

The additional capacity comes as trade with China continues to dominate Indonesia’s non-oil and gas exports. Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows China accounted for 23.51% of Indonesia’s non-oil and gas exports between January and October 2025, valued at $52.45 billion.

“Ad hoc services are an effective solution to address temporary capacity shortages during peak periods without disrupting regular shipping schedules,” Pramesti said. “Through integrated operations management, we are ready to support efficient logistics and maintain national supply chain reliability.”
