Indonesian state-owned rail manufacturer PT Industri Kereta Api (INKA) has shipped three locomotive platforms to Australia, marking the latest delivery under a contract with United Group Limited (UGL) for 50 units, the company said.
The shipment brings the total number of locomotive platforms delivered by INKA to Australia to 13 units, with deliveries scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025. The company said the progress reflects its ability to meet export commitments and maintain consistency in the international market.
“This shipment at the end of the year is an important milestone for INKA,” said Hartono, Senior Manager of Public Relations and Representative Offices at PT INKA.
“In early 2026, we plan to send another locomotive to Australia for a different train type. We see this as positive momentum to sustain deliveries and support INKA’s export performance in 2026.”
The shipment was handled through container terminal – Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS), with coordination among multiple stakeholders to ensure compliance with export procedures and smooth logistics operations.
PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS), which facilitated the shipment, said it remains committed to supporting the export of domestically manufactured products.
“TPS is committed to supporting the smooth export of Indonesian railway products so they can compete in the global market,” said Bayu Setyadi, Senior Vice President of Commercial and Business Development at TPS.
INKA said its partnership with UGL extends beyond locomotive platforms. The company has also delivered around 1,000 flat wagons to the Australian firm, underscoring growing international confidence in Indonesian-made railway products.
The deliveries form part of INKA’s broader strategy to expand its global footprint and strengthen its position in overseas railway markets.
