PMLI Graduates 14 Pilots, Proving Its  Role in Shipping Safety

On Tuesday, January 26, 2026, at Pelindo Tower in North Jakarta, fourteen newly qualified pilot officers stood ready to take on one of the maritime sector’s most exacting roles: piloting ships safely through Indonesia’s busy and often challenging waters.

The officers were formally inaugurated as Class III Pilots in a ceremony hosted by the Indonesian Maritime and Logistics Education and Training Center (PMLI).

The event underscored the strategic importance of pilotage in ensuring navigational safety, maintaining the flow of national logistics, and supporting Indonesia’s ambition as a global maritime hub.

The inauguration was led by Muhammad Anto Julianto, Director of Ports at the Directorate General of Sea Transportation, Ministry of Transportation. He officially conferred pilot status on the graduates after they completed an intensive training programme designed to meet national regulatory standards.

Over the course of 117 days, equivalent to 1,165 hours of instruction, the participants underwent a rigorous curriculum combining classroom theory, practical pilotage exercises, performance assessments, and a final seminar based on individual project work.

The programme was conducted in full compliance with the Decree of the Director General of Sea Transportation Number KP-DJPL 574 of 2024.

PMLI said the graduation reflects its ongoing commitment to developing highly competent pilot officers capable of operating at the frontline of maritime safety, particularly as traffic in Indonesian ports continues to grow.

Alongside the inauguration, PMLI announced the opening of registration for Level II Pilot Training Batch IV for 2026, with applications open from January 12 to March 25. Prospective candidates can apply through the registration link listed on PMLI’s official information materials.

Applicants’ documents will be verified by the PMLI team, with successful candidates notified via email or WhatsApp using the contact details provided during registration.
