PTP Nonpetikemas Handles Unloading of 3,100 Australian Cattle at Tanjung Priok

PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok (PTP Nonpetikemas) on Monday (February 23) handled the unloading of 3,100 imported cattle from Australia at Pier 101 of Tanjung Priok Port, as Indonesia moves to maintain meat supply in the capital and surrounding areas.

The livestock shipment was handled under strict supervision and in accordance with standard operating procedures and animal welfare regulations, the company said. The operation aimed to ensure the safe transfer of the cattle from vessel to shore and facilitate smooth onward distribution.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inspected the unloading process to ensure the timely arrival and distribution of meat supplies across the Jakarta metropolitan area.

Yandri Trisaputra, Executive General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok, said the port’s facilities and operational readiness were prepared to support the handling of live animal cargo.

“Handling livestock requires special attention, from berthing facilities and traffic management to cross-agency coordination. We have ensured all aspects are well prepared to guarantee smooth operations,” he said.

Dwi Rahmad Toto S., Director of Commercial and Business Development and Acting Director of Operations at PTP Nonpetikemas, said the operation demonstrated the terminal’s capability in managing non-containerized and specialized cargo.

“As a non-container terminal operator, we routinely handle bulk cargo, general cargo and livestock. We ensure effective loading and unloading processes while maintaining HSSE standards and supporting the national food supply chain,” he said.

The event was attended by officials from the Jakarta provincial government, Pelindo Group management and other stakeholders, including Raditya Endra Budiman, President Director of the Regional Public Company Dharma Jaya.
