PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry has urged passengers to purchase ferry tickets only through its official digital platform Ferizy ahead of the busy Eid al-Fitr travel period, warning against the risks of buying tickets from brokers or scalpers.
The state-owned ferry operator said it had prepared its fleet, port facilities and digital ticketing systems to accommodate the expected surge in passenger and vehicle traffic during the annual holiday.
“The Eid al-Fitr holiday period brings very high public mobility. Operational readiness is essential to ensure ferry services remain smooth, safe and reliable for people traveling home,” ASDP President Director Heru Widodo said in a statement.
Traffic at Telaga Punggur Port is projected to reach about 64,483 passengers and 18,210 vehicles during this year’s holiday season, roughly 15% higher than the same period last year, the company said.
The port is a key transportation hub in the Riau Islands, serving several strategic ferry routes including Tanjung Uban–Mengkapan and Telaga Punggur–Kuala Tungkal, which support passenger mobility and inter-regional logistics.
On the Tanjung Uban–Mengkapan route, ASDP operates the ferries KMP Lome and KMP Wira Loewisa. KMP Lome can carry up to 220 passengers and 19 mixed vehicles, while KMP Wira Loewisa has capacity for 400 passengers and 40 mixed vehicles. The crossing takes about 19 hours.
For the Telaga Punggur–Kuala Tungkal route, services are provided by KMP Sembilang and KMP Satria Pratama, each capable of carrying 180 passengers and 19 vehicles, with an estimated travel time of about 17 hours.
ASDP said it has also improved port facilities to support passenger comfort, including buffer zones, toll gates, ticket vending machines, health clinics, customer service counters, waiting rooms and prayer rooms.
Avoid Ticket Brokers
ASDP expects the busiest travel period to occur around March 19 and March 24, roughly two days before and after Eid al-Fitr.
Reno Yulianto, general manager of ASDP’s Batam branch, urged travelers to buy tickets only through the Ferizy app or its official website to avoid illegal fees and invalid tickets.
“We remind the public not to purchase tickets through brokers, as this could lead to illegal charges and uncertainty about ticket validity,” Reno said. “Purchasing through the official Ferizy platform ensures regulated pricing and protects passengers’ rights.”
He also advised travelers to plan trips in advance, avoid peak travel times when possible, arrive at the port according to their departure schedule and ensure that the identity information entered on tickets matches official identification.
ASDP said it expects ferry services during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday period to run smoothly with adequate preparation and cooperation from passengers.
