PT Jasa Armada Indonesia deployed four tugboats to support the first Panamax-sized container vessel at Patimban Port, highlighting expanding international shipping activity and marking the port’s first operation involving a ship of that size

PT Jasa Armada Indonesia Tbk (IPCM), a provider of pilotage and towing services within the Pelindo Group, said it successfully handled the berthing of the Panamax-sized container vessel MSC BREMERHAVEN V at Patimban Port on Aug. 3, marking the port’s first operation involving a ship of that size.

The vessel, measuring 295 meters in length overall (LOA), was assisted by four tugboats, including KT Jayakarta 2, KT Teluk Jakarta 208, KT BVS 208 and KT Abimanyu V, to complete the pilotage and towing operation in accordance with maritime safety standards, the company said.

The operation underscores IPCM’s operational readiness to support larger container vessels as Patimban Port expands its role in Indonesia’s international trade and logistics network.

“The successful handling of the Panamax vessel MSC BREMERHAVEN V reflects IPCM’s operational readiness to support Patimban Port’s growing role as a national logistics hub,” IPCM President Director Shanti Puruhita said in a statement.

The company said it remains focused on maintaining safety, reliability and professional service standards while supporting the increasing flow of international shipping through the port.

Patimban Port is expected to receive regular international container services, with weekly calls by vessels ranging from Handymax and Supramax ships, measuring about 150 to 200 meters, to Panamax vessels exceeding 250 meters in length. The port is projected to handle approximately three to four Panamax vessel calls each month, according to the company.

IPCM said the increase in international shipping activity is expected to create additional demand for marine services, particularly pilotage and towing, which are the company’s core businesses.
