The 3rd Regional Assembly Meeting (Muswil) of Indonesia Stevedoring Companies’ Association (APBMI) Chapter DKI Jakarta (DPW APBMI DKI) has elected Capt Suwondo (Owner of Stevedoring Company Jasa Anugerah Samudera / JAS) as the Chairman of DPW APBMI DKI Jakarta for the 2022-2027 period.
Suwondo, previously the Head of the Liquid Bulk Division at the APBMI DKI Jakarta, was chosen by acclamation.
Based on the results of the selection process done the Muswil Committee, there were two prospective candidates who registered themselves to run for the election for 2022-2027 APBMI DKI Chairman. The two nominees are Suwondo (Owner of PBM Jasa Anugerah Samudera / JAS), and Sugi Harsono (Owner of PT Gemilang Jaya Kargo).
However, on the Muswil occasion, one of the prospective candidates, Sugi Harsono, resigned, so that by acclamation Suwondo was chosen and determined by the Muswil participants as Chairman of the APBMI DKI Jakarta for the 2022-2027 period.
Talking to the press earlier, Suwondo once described various program plans that will be carried out as the chairman of APBMI DKI in the next five years.
First, increasing the active role of members for the existence of stevedoring companies (PBM) at the port, so that the PBM business is more conducive.
Second, creating a harmonious relationship and mutual respect between PBM, regulators and port operators as mandated by PM 59/2021.
Third, continue to encourage competency training for PBM of DKI Jakarta in particular and all APBMI members in general, so that they can improve their performance, thus increasing port operators (BUP) trust.
“This will encourage port operators like Pelindo to cooperate with professional PBMs as it will boost the performance of the national logistics index,” said Suwondo.
Fourth, maintain the harmonization and collaboration of the PBM and BUP sharing schemes at the Tanjung Priok Port which has been agreed upon by BUP and PBM.
“The sharing scheme is a win-win solution and must be maintained. Therefore, PBM should not work recklessly but must be professional so that the output can be maximized. The point is that BUP and PBM in Priok can continue to run side by side,” said Suwondo.
Suwondo emphasized that so far the collaboration between BUP and PBM at Tanjung Priok Port has been on the track. Therefore, he is determined to continue to increase unity for the existence of PBM. Besides, increasing the active role of members, harmonization and listening to voices from below, professionalism of members and increasing competency certification of PBM HR and a harmonious work climate.
“The point is that PBM and BUP collaboration is an absolute thing that must be done,” said Suwondo.
As reported earlier, some key note speakers for the Assembly Meeting have called stevedoring companies to build a stronger synergy with port operators (BUP) in a bid to create efficiency in loading unloading, cut logistics (port) costs, and to sustain business (stevedoring) activities.
Syafrin Liputo, Head of Transportation Agency at the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta, asked APBMI DKI and all PBM members to continue to synergize with stakeholders, associations and port operators (BUP) in a bid to improve the performance of loading and unloading of goods and logistics services at the Tanjung Priok port.
“This means that PBM contributes to the smooth flow of logistics in the capital. Because the logistics movement is the motor of the economy and PBM is one of the links,” Syafrin Liputo said on his remark speech.
Echoing the view, Chairman of APBMI Juswandi Kristanto reminded the importance of strengthening the synergy between PBM and BUP. Juswandi appreciates the Muswil that has put the issue of synergy as the top topic.
“We must be committed to collaborate on how the port remains conducive. We think building a stronger synergy and partnership with BUP (port operator) is the way to it (conducive port operation),” Juswandi noted.
Meanwhile, Regional Head 2 of Pelindo Guna Mulyana reminds all stevedoring companies on the future challenges in the port activities. He underlined the two main issues: improving efficiency and cut cost.
Hence, Guna calls all stevedoring companies adopt qualified loading and unloading technology or equipment, digitalization, as well as increasing the competence of human resources.
In addition, stevedoring companies are expected care with the environment issues and the aspects of safety. “But, anyway, thanks to the commitment of APBMI to make the port conducive,” Guna said.
