IPC TPK Handles VASI Shipping’s Direct Service, Boosts Export to India

Approaching the end of this year (2023), IPC Terminal Petikemas/IPC TPK handles another new service – VASI Shipping’s direct service from Jakarta to India and Middle East.  Agent by PT MAP Trans Logistic, the VASI Shipping deployed MV. Asterios, a 1,800 TEUs containership, for its maiden call to IPC TPK Jakarta on December 13, 2023.

Commending this new services, IPC TPK President Director said: “The call of MV Asterios today is an effort to support the growth of Indonesia’s export-import value, especially with India. This new direct service will boost the export volume to India via Nhava Sheva, especially the commodity of charcoal and other non-oil and gas products. “

India is an important trading partner for Indonesia and the 4th largest export destination country. In October 2023, the value of non-oil and gas exports to India reached USD 1.8 billion, up 24.9% month on month, from USD 1.5 billion in September. This is a positive trend for Indonesia to continue to encourage export growth to India.

“With the opening of this direct service, IPC TPK is enthusiastic to provide added value and be more efficient in serving customers. This new service not only supports the government in increasing connectivity but also improves bilateral relations between Indonesia and India, encouraging trade and investment from both countries,” Guna said.

The MV Asterios berthing at Terminal 3 IPC TPK is an 1,800 TEUs containership with LOA of 172 meters and BEAM of 27.4 meters. On its maiden call, this vessel loaded as many as 674 boxes / 1,003 TEUs containerized cargoes from the terminal. The vessel is schedule to depart from the terminal to Port Klang on December 14, 2023.

Dhany Novianto, Country Head of PT MAP Trans Logistic, explained that the service would call every two weeks and route Surabaya – Jakarta – Port Klang Malaysia – Nhava Sheva – Jebel Ali– Dammam. ”For a while, we call at here (Terminal 3 Tanjung Priok) every two weeks,”  Dhany said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Prafulla Kumar Jha, Managing Director at PT MAP Trans Logistic, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to be the exclusive general agent for VASI Shipping, and this collaboration allows us to offer a direct shipping service from Surabaya to India and the Middle East.
