Non-container terminal operator PTP Nonpetikemas, a subsidiary of Pelindo Multi Terminal Sub-holding (SPMT) continues to support the national strategic programs of industry downstream through its extensive involvement in the development of Smelter Grade Alumina Refinery (SGAR).
PTP Nonpetikemas would also involve in the operation of the SGAR, a smelter owned by PT Borneo Alumina Indonesia (PT BAI), in which it would handle its logistics activities.
As the report had said, the SGAR was officially launched by President Joko Widodo on September 24, 2024.
PTP Nonpetikemas would handle the logistics for raw materials for the SGAR which are mostly loaded at Terminal Kijing, an international terminal acting as central of trade activities at West Kalimantan since its first operation in 2022.
And since its first operation, the terminal has recorded significant productivity increase, both in ship calls and throughput. As the operator of the terminal, PTP enjoyed a 10.5% productivity increase in first half (H1) of this year, compared to H1 2023.
Commending such achievement, President Director of PTP Nonpetikemas Indra Hidayat Sani said that as a multipurpose port operator, PTP Non Petikemas is fully committed to supporting National Strategic Projects, including this SGAR downstream project.
“The success of this first bauxite injection shows that PTP Non Petikemas is ready to support national industrialization through reliable and efficient port services. PTP Nonpetikemas is committed to improving services through operational transformation, including the implementation of the Pelindo Terminal Operation System-Multipurpose (PTOS-M),” said Indra.
Indra added that the operation transformation carried out by PTP Non Petikemas, in addition to increase efficiency, it also ensures operational safety and security at Terminal Kijing.
“We continue to do innovation by implementing six pillars of port reform which include Business Processes, HR, Technology, Equipment, Infrastructure, and HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment). We do this to ensure that all operational activities run smoothly and safely,” he explained.
The first bauxite injection into SGAR is an important step towards the full operation of the smelter scheduled for October 2024. PTP Nonpetikemas is committed to continuing to provide the best service in supporting SGAR operations and other downstream projects to support national economic growth by increasing the added value of Indonesia’s natural resources. elalui Terminal Kijing.
PTP Nonpetikemas also continues to improve its capabilities by gradually adding loading and unloading equipment, adding human resources and increasing its competence, using the Pelindo Terminal Operation System Multipurpose (PTOSM) for operational services and transforming operational service standards.
Currently, some facilities deployed for this terminal operation include 5 units of Mobile Crane, 3 Excavators, 2 Wheel Loaders, 1 Mobile Conveyor, 2 Forklifts, 1 mini excavator, 4 hoppers, 6 grabs, and other supporting loading and unloading equipment. Soon, PTP will add some other equipment, including two units each of Mobile Cranes and Harbor Mobile Crane.
