Subholding Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (SPTP) enjoyed a 6% throughput increase in first half this year (H1 2024), thanks to the increasing ship calls at some of the leading terminals.
Corporate Secretary PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas Widyaswendra explained that, during the semester, SPTP throughput reached 5.84 million Teus, including 1.83 million TEUs of international and 4.01 million TEUs of domestice trade.
“The international throughput grew up by 5.76% year-on-year, while domestics by 6%,” Widyaswendra explained.
Widyaswendra explained several factors that encourage such growth at each terminals.
TPS Surabaya, for example, was triggered by the increasing international ship calls during the period. Total international ship calls to TPS during the period reached 492 units, higher than the target of 465 units set up in early year. TPS also enjoyed an increasing ship calls of domestic trade, to 117 units, from the target of 88 units.
The increasing throughput of Kaltim (East Kalimantan) Kariangau Terminal (KKT) also provided significant contribution, thanks to the increasing volume for the construction of the New Capital City of IKN. KKT enjoyed a 21% throughput increase, from 96 thousand in H1 2023, to 117 thousand TEUs in 2024.
“In view of the performance, we are so optimistic to reach our yearly target of 2024,” said Widyaswendra, adding that SPTP 2024 throughput target was set at 12 million TEUs.
