Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) has set up facilities for fumigation and quarantine inspection process. In cooperation with the East Java Animal, Fish and Plant Quarantine Centre (BKHIT), TTL launched the facilities at its terminal on January 19, 2023.

This launch is an effort to obtain a green report card assessment from Corruption Eradication Commission’s National Strategy Team (Stranas-PK).

“Currently, the results of the evaluation show that Tanjung Perak Port is still yellow or not yet green and this is allegedly because this inspection service has not been realized on lane one,” Muhlis Natsir, Head of East Java Quarantine, said on the inauguration of the fumigation facility at Teluk Lamong Terminal.

According to Stranas-PK, of the 46 ports and 6 airports in Indonesia, Tanjung Perak Port is still in yellow status. Therefore, East Java Quarantine, in cooperation with related parties including port/terminal operators, port authority (KSOP), Customs and Excise, and related entities as well, took same initiatives, including installation of fumigation facilities, to upgrade the port status into green.

Head of KSOP Tanjung Perak Capt. Heru Susanto, MM appreciates this effort, hoping the program would run as expected.

Echoing the view, Terminal Teluk Lamong President Director David Pandapotan Sirait explained that the installation of the facilities remained TTL support to overcome the problem. “The inspection area and fumigation services at terminal lane one is the first at Tanjung Perak Port, probably even the first in Indonesia.”

“Hopefully, this facility will help to improve import services at this terminal. Let’s move together to realize this big goal. We hope Tanjung Perak Port will be on the green status,” he added.

During the launching, fumigation for 27 tons of imported nutmeg commodities from China was carried out. The inspections by Plant Quarantine Officials, BKHIT East Java, three high populations of live insect plant pest organisms (OPT) were found, namely Cigarette Beetles (Lasioderma serricorne), Red Flour Beetle (Triboliium castaneum), and Coffee Bean Weevil (Araecerus fasciculatus).

The provision of fumigation treatment services and inspection sites for salted rawhide is a form of commitment of all Tanjung Perak Port entities in creating good governance.
