Logistics company PT Multi Terminal Indonesia (MTI), a subsidiary of PT Pelindo Solusi Logistik (SPSL), is exploring potential cooperation with a regional government-owned enterprise (BUMD) from Samarinda, East Kalimantan, as demand for logistics services surges in line with the development of the country’s new capital.
The partnership was explored following a current visit of the BUMD to MTI. The visit, led by Supervisory Board Member Jusuf Yunus, took place this week at MTI’s headquarters at Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta.
MTI’s Acting President Director Budi Azmi received the delegation, accompanied by senior company officials including Logistics Regional 1 General Manager Jun Delarosa and Corporate Secretariat representative Sucahyo.
Yunus said the meeting aimed to identify areas for collaboration in logistics management around Samarinda, particularly near the Palaran Container Terminal, as the region braces for rising infrastructure and supply chain demands.
“Economic growth in Samarinda has been accelerating, especially with the progress of the National Capital City (IKN) development. Over the past two years, the need for logistics support, for both construction and essential goods, has increased significantly,” Yunus said.
“We view MTI, as part of the Pelindo Group, as a partner with strong experience in this sector.”
MTI’s Azmi welcomed the initiative and confirmed the company is reviewing several business development prospects in Samarinda and nearby port zones.
Following the meeting, the Samarinda delegation toured several of MTI’s key operational assets, including the Pasoso Terminal, Banda CDC Warehouse, 215X logistics yard, and the company’s cold storage facilities.
Both sides agreed to advance the talks at a more technical level. MTI is expected to conduct a reciprocal visit to Samarinda in the near future to assess facilities and potential joint ventures on-site.
The meeting concluded with a group photo and commitments to deepen collaboration in line with Indonesia’s shifting logistics landscape.
MTI, operating under SPSL, a sub-holding of state-owned port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo), manages logistics and hinterland development services across Indonesia. The company divides its operations into three regions, covering major cities including Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, and Makassar.
MTI also offers international logistics solutions through global partnerships across Asia, the Americas, and Europe. Leveraging multimodal infrastructure, spanning land, sea, and air, MTI positions itself as a key player in Indonesia’s logistics sector.
