NPCT1 Welcomes Maersk’s Gemini Alliance IN1 Service

NPCT1 is proud to announce the launch of Maersk’s new IN1 service, which strengthens the connection between Jakarta, Tanjung Pelepas, and Singapore.

As part of Maersk’s collaboration with Hapag-Lloyd (Gemini Alliance), the IN1 service follows a route linking Jakarta, Tanjung Pelepas, and Singapore in a continuous loop: Jakarta – Tanjung Pelepas – Singapore – Jakarta – Tanjung Pelepas – Singapore.

The M.V. Meratus Jimbaran (v. 506E – 507N) made its maiden call at NPCT1 on the evening of February 9, 2025. During its visit, the vessel handled a throughput of 1,375 boxes and remained at the terminal for 24 hours before departing.

To celebrate the launch of the IN1 service, NPCT1’s management team presented commemorative plaques to Mrs. Mariel Metzker, Maersk’s Head of Ocean Operations for SEA & NEA, and the Captain of the Meratus Jimbaran (v. 506E – 507N) at the wharf.

Mr. Takayuki Hori, President Director of NPCT1, expressed his excitement, saying, “On behalf of NPCT1, I would like to congratulate Maersk on the maiden call of the IN1 service. We are honored to support Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd through this new alliance. We are committed to providing world-class service and look forward to fostering a long-term relationship with Maersk and its customers.”

Mrs. Mariel Metzker, Maersk’s Head of Ocean Operations (SEA & NEA), shared her enthusiasm about the launch: “We are thrilled to see Maersk’s continued growth in Indonesia, particularly in Jakarta with NPCT1. After extensive discussions over the past few months regarding our service windows, we are excited to launch this new service in the first week of February. This is the network of the future, not just for us but also for our partners.”

In a significant strategic move, the Gemini Alliance has appointed the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) in Malaysia as its primary hub for operations. The decision marks a pivotal moment for both the alliance and the port, which is set to become a key player in global maritime trade and logistics.
