PT Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok welcomed an honorary delegation from Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT) and Yokohama Kawasaki International Port Corporation (YKIP) on Tuesday, as both nations explore closer collaboration in the maritime sector.
The courtesy visit, held at the Indonesian Maritime Museum, was attended by key representatives from Pelindo Priok, including Senior Commercial Manager Chandra Irawan and Commercial Manager Gerry Guardiano. Also present were Yunika, Head of the Port Section, and staff from the Tanjung Priok Port Authority Office (KSOP Utama).
The visit was part of a follow-up to a formal communication from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), signaling Japan’s interest in expanding dialogue around the port business sector, with a focus on strategic port sales and infrastructure.

Kicking off the engagement, Guardiano delivered a presentation highlighting recent developments at Tanjung Priok Port, including updates on facilities, services, and ongoing modernization efforts. A casual discussion followed, setting the tone for a more in-depth exchange of ideas.
The Japanese delegates, in turn, provided an overview of operations at the Port of Yokohama, underlining YKIP’s capabilities and infrastructure. The session served as a platform for knowledge sharing on port management, sustainability strategies, and innovation in maritime logistics.
To further strengthen understanding, the delegation toured the Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT), one of the busiest terminals at Tanjung Priok, where they observed port operations firsthand.
The visit underscored shared ambitions between Indonesia and Japan to develop efficient, resilient, and environmentally sustainable port systems that enhance global supply chain connectivity.
Officials from both sides expressed hope that the dialogue would lead to tangible cooperation in infrastructure investment, port management, and green logistics innovation.
