Pelindo Tanjung Priok Strengthens Media Ties to Build Public Trust, Transparency

In a bid to foster public trust and enhance transparency, Indonesia’s largest port operator, Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok, is deepening its engagement with the media as part of a broader strategy to position itself as a world-class port service provider.

The initiative took shape over the weekend at a media gathering held at Jimbaran Resto in Ancol, North Jakarta, on Friday (Sept. 194). The event brought together journalists, corporate secretaries, and public relations officers from Pelindo’s subsidiaries operating in the Tanjung Priok Port area.

Framed under the theme “Sun Rise Network: Positive Narratives, Stronger Communities,” the meeting was designed to encourage open dialogue between Pelindo and its media partners in a more relaxed, informal setting. The day began with a morning walk along Ancol Beach, followed by group exercise, breakfast, and a discussion session on issues related to the port and the maritime logistics sector.

Tanjung Priok is the country’s largest and busiest port, serving as a vital economic gateway for imports and exports. With its strategic importance, officials say, there is a growing need to provide accurate, timely, and constructive information to the public, and the media is viewed as a key conduit in that process.

“We recognize that the media plays a vital role in shaping public perception,” said Yandri Trisaputra, Executive General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok, in his remarks to attendees.

“This gathering is not just about strengthening our relationship with journalists, but about building a collaborative approach to deliver balanced and transparent communication,” he said further.

Yandri emphasized that Pelindo is currently undergoing several transformation efforts aimed at improving operational efficiency and service quality. He noted that such changes need public understanding and support — something that can only be achieved through trusted information channels and consistent engagement with stakeholders.

“Pelindo Regional 2 hopes this synergy with the media will continue to grow,” he said.

“Together, we can build stronger public confidence in Pelindo’s role in developing a globally competitive port infrastructure.”

The gathering also offered a platform for media representatives to share their perspectives on coverage of the maritime and logistics sectors, particularly challenges related to access to data and the need for timely updates. Pelindo representatives responded by committing to more proactive communication and media facilitation going forward.

The event concluded with a symbolic group photo, a gesture intended to underscore the shared commitment to positive narratives and empowered communities.
