The ultra-luxury expedition cruise ship Scenic Eclipse II, measuring 168 meters and built in Rijeka, Croatia, made a port call at Soekarno-Hatta Port, Makassar, on Tuesday (08/04) as part of its Southeast Asia voyage. The visit follows a stop in Palopo, South Sulawesi.
This port call is part of the vessel’s exclusive cruise itinerary through Southeast Asia’s most exotic and culturally rich destinations.
Carrying 177 international tourists from countries including Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Japan, China, Malaysia, Poland, and Switzerland, Scenic Eclipse II docked at Makassar Port at 06:00 WITA and departed for Sandakan, Malaysia at 17:00 WITA.
“The arrival of this cruise ship marks an important milestone for Pelindo and serves as a strong signal for growth in Makassar’s maritime and tourism sectors,” said Abdul Azis, Executive Director of Pelindo Regional 4.
“We are proud to welcome Scenic Eclipse II to Makassar. Its call reflects increasing international confidence in our port infrastructure. We are committed to continuously improving our services and facilities to ensure a world-class experience for tourists,” he added.
During their visit, passengers explored several top attractions, including Leang-Leang in Bantimurung, Maros, and took part in a city tour featuring key local destinations. Their presence generated economic benefits for local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), as well as for tour guides and the transportation sector.
This stop in Makassar is part of Scenic Eclipse II’s broader voyage through Southeast Asia, designed to showcase the region’s cultural richness and natural beauty.
As a state port operator, Pelindo remains committed to supporting the Indonesian government in promoting maritime tourism by ensuring safe, reliable, and tourist-friendly port facilities.
The visit of Scenic Eclipse II further solidifies Makassar Port’s position as a key gateway for marine tourism in Eastern Indonesia.
