SPTP Ensures Continuous Operation of Container Terminals during Long Holidays

Despite restriction to certain vehicles, Indonesia’s leading container terminal operator, PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (SPTP), has confirmed that its container terminals will remain fully operational during the upcoming long holidays, including Isra Miraj and the Chinese New Year 2576 celebrations in 2025.

Widyaswendra, the Corporate Secretary of SPTP, assured that all 32 container terminals under the company’s management will continue to provide container loading and unloading services, as well as other essential terminal operations, throughout the holiday period at the end of January.

“Terminal operations will continue as usual, and we will maintain our services for container loading and unloading,” Widyaswendra stated on Friday, January 24, 2025.

He also emphasized that customers facing any service issues at the terminals can reach out to the company’s customer relations officers for assistance. Furthermore, Widyaswendra reassured that there would be no additional charges or levies outside of the official rates during the holiday period.

“We are committed to preventing any form of illegal levies and will take strict action against those who engage in such practices. We encourage service users to report any violations through our whistleblowing system,” he added.

RESTRICTION ON CERTAIN VEHICLES

The government has issued new regulations regarding logistics transportation during the long Isra Miraj and Chinese New Year holidays through Joint Decree (SKB) Number: KP-DRJD 304 of 2025, HK.201/2/5/DJPL/2025, 6/1/2025/Korlantas, 01/PKS/Db/2025.

These regulations impose restrictions on certain freight vehicles, particularly those with three or more axles, vehicles towing trailers, and those carrying excavation, mining, or construction materials.

However, exemptions have been made for vehicles transporting essential goods, including BBM/BBG (fuels), packaged drinking water (AMDK), export/import goods to and from seaports, money transfers, disaster relief supplies, livestock and animal feed, fertilizers, and basic necessities.

The Indonesia Trucking Companies’ Association (Aptrindo) has expressed support for the new freight transportation policies during the long holiday period. The regulations, which will take effect this weekend and continue into next week, restrict logistics trucks on toll roads but allow them to operate on non-toll, arterial roads.

Gemilang Tarigan, General Chairperson of Aptrindo, welcomed the policy, noting that it will not hinder the operation of freight trucks. “The restriction on toll roads does not affect our ability to operate on arterial roads. Most importantly, it ensures that the smooth delivery and distribution of logistics is maintained, allowing factories to continue running or operate with additional overtime,” Tarigan said.
