Lampung Export Boom Lifts TPK Panjang Throughput 7.4%

Rising exports of tapioca starch, shrimp and pineapple helped lift container traffic at container terminal IPC TPK Panjang by 7.4% through May, outpacing the company’s national growth rate

Container traffic at PT IPC Terminal Petikemas (IPC TPK) Panjang continued to grow through May 2026, supported by rising exports of key commodities from Lampung Province and increased domestic trade activity.

IPC TPK reported throughput of 50,287 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) during the January–May period, up 7.4% from 46,824 TEUs in the same period a year earlier.

The increase reflects stronger logistics and trade activity in Lampung, one of Indonesia’s major agricultural and industrial export hubs.

“The throughput growth in Panjang area, which exceeds IPC TPK’s national average growth, underscores the terminal’s strategic role in supporting logistics and trade flows in Lampung,” said Daniel Setiawan, Senior Manager of Corporate Secretariat at IPC TPK.

He said the company would continue to maintain service reliability to meet growing demand from shipping lines and cargo owners.

Export-oriented commodities were the main drivers of growth. Shipments of tapioca starch surged 267.4% year-on-year, while exports of frozen shrimp rose 28.9%, pineapple increased 22.9%, and refined glycerin climbed 21.9%.

Domestic container traffic reached 28,163 TEUs through May, up 10.0% from a year earlier. International container volume rose 4.2% to 22,124 TEUs.

Data from Lampung’s Statistics Agency (BPS) showed the province’s exports reached US$504.59 million in April, up 43.3% from the same month last year. Imports increased 51.6% year-on-year to US$172.40 million, reflecting stronger trade activity that supported higher logistics demand and container movements through Panjang Port.

The terminal’s performance also contributed to IPC TPK’s nationwide growth. The company handled 1.49 million TEUs across its network through May 2026, an increase of 6.1% compared with the same period last year.

With throughput growth of 7.4%, the Panjang area ranked as IPC TPK’s second-fastest-growing operating region during the first five months of 2026.
