PTP Nonpetikemas Panjang Boosts Services for Diverse Commodities

PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok (PTP Nonpetikemas) Panjang Branch is strengthening its role as a key logistics hub in southern Sumatra, supported by links to road and rail networks that facilitate the distribution of regional commodities.

The terminal handles a wide range of cargo, including dry bulk such as fertilizer, crushed stone, soybeans, raw sugar, salt, clinker and corn; liquid bulk including crude palm oil (CPO), palm oil mill effluent (POME), refined, bleached and deodorized palm oil (RBDPO), asphalt and diesel; as well as general cargo such as heavy equipment and railway rolling stock.

Its facilities include a 1,707-metre pier and a 24,292-square-metre yard, supported by equipment such as gantry luffing cranes, jib cranes, hoppers, forklifts, ramp doors, POME pumps and weighbridges.

The branch reported steady operations throughout 2025, including the phased handling of 54 imported locomotives from the United States between July and year-end.

Performance in the first quarter of 2026 showed handling rates of 2,172 tons per ship per day (T/S/D) for general cargo, 743 T/S/D for bag cargo, 3,044 T/S/D for liquid bulk and 3,714 T/S/D for dry bulk.

“These operations highlight our capability to handle specialized cargo with high safety standards while strengthening integration between port and rail logistics,” said Branch Manager Doddy Setiawan.

Throughput in the first quarter reached 1.3 million tons, comprising 920,460 tons of dry bulk, 249,540 tons of liquid bulk, 109,630 tons of bag cargo and 52,610 tons of general cargo. Revenue rose 5% above target, driven by new market share and partnerships with service users.

The branch’s hinterland in southern Sumatra is supported by commodities such as coal and agro-industrial products, which underpin logistics demand, Doddy said.

PTP Nonpetikemas has also expanded customer engagement initiatives, including a customer appreciation programme held between late 2025 and early 2026, aimed at reinforcing round-the-clock service commitments.
