PTP Nonpetikemas Strengthens Port Service Talent Through HiPo Program

PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok (PTP Nonpetikemas) is strengthening the competitiveness of its non-container port services through a talent development program aimed at enhancing employee capabilities in the multipurpose terminal sector.

The company recently completed the second batch of its High Potential Employee (HiPo) program, an initiative launched in 2023 to develop skilled human resources across key operational areas including general cargo, dry bulk and liquid bulk services.

The graduation ceremony for HiPo Batch II was held at Phinisi Function Hall, Pelindo Tower, on Tuesday, marking the culmination of a talent development program that has run for the past nine months.

PTP Nonpetikemas said the program combines technical and managerial competency development through experiential learning, mentoring and direct field implementation to prepare employees for the operational complexities of multipurpose port services.

Basuki Soleh, representing the Human Resources and General Affairs Director of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo), said participants had undergone a demanding learning process during the program.

“This has not been an easy journey. The participants have been tested throughout the process,” he said. “The lessons learned over the past nine months are expected to be implemented across Pelindo Group, while upholding an anti-fragility work culture and prioritizing safety.”

Edi Priyanto also emphasized the importance of safety in port operations, particularly within multipurpose terminals.

“In the context of multipurpose terminals, safety risks remain a primary concern. No achievement is worth celebrating if safety is neglected,” he said. “HiPo graduates are expected to become agents of change who contribute positively to the company, society and the country.”

PTP Nonpetikemas President Director Indra Hidayat Sani said integrity and strong synergy were increasingly important amid global business challenges and industry competition.

“The success of this program cannot be separated from the support of the holding and subholding companies. It is also part of our effort to build a sustainable work culture,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bambang Sakti said the HiPo program was designed to address the growing need for highly capable human resources in an increasingly complex industry.

The second batch shortened the program duration to nine months from 18 months in the first batch without reducing the quality of learning, he added.

HiPo Batch II involved 30 selected participants from various divisions, including operations, planning and control, HSSE, and cargo shipping specialists. Participants underwent a development model consisting of 10% formal training, 20% social learning and 70% direct field practice.

During the graduation event, PTP Nonpetikemas also presented awards to top-performing participants and groups based on performance, competency and contributions throughout the program.
