Terminal Petikemas Kupang (TPK Kupang) handled 65,525 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in the second quarter (Q2) of 2026, up about 8.5% year on year (YoY), from 60,402 TEUs in the Q2 2025, as cargo flows strengthened in East Nusa Tenggara.
Loading and unloading productivity also improved, with box ship per hour (BSH), a measure of container moves handled per vessel each hour, rising to 25.00 in the second quarter from 24.02 in the previous quarter. The figure was broadly in line with 25.11 BSH recorded in the corresponding period last year.
“The increase in container throughput reflects continued improvement in economic activity across East Nusa Tenggara,” Terminal Head Andhik Wahyu Kristianto said in a statement.
“The higher loading and unloading productivity demonstrates that the service standardization and digitalization we have implemented are helping reduce vessel turnaround time,” he said.
Shipping companies operating at the terminal said improved operational performance had supported more reliable schedules.
Hildus Seran Bau, head of PT Tanto Intim Line’s Kupang branch, said the terminal’s consistent loading and unloading productivity had improved shipping efficiency and helped maintain vessel schedules.
Rudy Irawan, head of PT Suntraco Inti Makmur’s Kupang branch, said stronger cargo volumes in the second quarter signaled improving business activity and highlighted the importance of maintaining efficient port operations to ensure the smooth distribution of goods across East Nusa Tenggara.
TPK Kupang said it will continue improving terminal facilities, operational efficiency and workplace safety to support national logistics flows during the second half of 2026.
